Admiral sets of the early 1950s are held in high esteem by many collectors, who consider their design characteristics to be right in the ideal middle of the continuum between overly engineered sets like Du Mont and the gutless wonder that is Muntz.
I seek out service information for all my sets, even ones that remain indefinitely in an unquantifiably distant place in the restoration queue--like this one. Looking over the Sam's info for the TV chassis, it turns out that the "K" in the model number signifies a combo with an AM-only radio. I double-checked the model number on the back of the set. It not only definitely reads as per the title, the tube location chart also indicates an AM radio. So how did it end up with an AM-FM unit?
