Comments: | Always good to see old TV sets being cared for! I write the Television column for the Antique Wireless Association's quarterly Journal, so I'm always keeping an eye out for interesting TV sets, equipment, and stories. |

Comments: | Hello DJR,
I've enjoyed your website! I'm wondering if the restoring you've done is solely for your own enjoyment or do/would you do restoration work on other people's vintage TV sets as well?
My husband and I have a Crosley TV, model no. 11-446MU, that is in nice condition given it's 66 years old! This Crosley belonged to my late parents. Hubby and I are trying to determine whether it's possible to restore the set by finding someone who is skilled at doing the work or whether the whole idea is a futile one and we should just repurpose the cabinet and as many of the TV's parts as possible into a cool-looking mini bar.
My first choice would be to restore the Crosley so I look forward to hearing from you with any info. on possible restorers you might be able to suggest/recommend.
Thanks very much!

Comments: | Hello David, I found your website, looks like my old Gotham Visionaire found a worthy new owner!
How cool would it be if you got that TV running again! Maybe you just have to plug it in and turn it on, I don't know, I never dared. ;) Have fun with the TV and please send me pictures once you get it to run! Best - Ralf |

Comments: | I Probably was here before. There are a few radio guys (I'm one also) in my area, but NO TV guys. My story is similar to yours BUT I never did broadcast. I had a soldering iron in my hands since 1974. |

Comments: | You have a similar past to mine. Joe Lucas, a wacky and quite brilliant instructor at Lincoln Technical Institute in Allentown PA taught his classes how tube circuits (and also transistors) worked, a full 6 years after I acquired my rescue and restore sickness. I was the only person my age interested in tubes, let alone working as a bench tech in a TV shop at age 16. Still alone out here. |

Comments: | I'll have to go over more details of "TV On the Porch" later.
It's nice to hear from someone who appreciates the B&W sets of the late 1950's (neglected by collectors)
I had come to love these 21" B&W sets as a teenager in the late 70s/early 80s - I would find these sets thrown out, clean them up, and replace the bad tube (or make the right adjustment) to get it working. Mom unplugged the "Telelab" when it got the point there was a big B&W set in every room - I could call it "TV From the Curb". |
